How we use information

We use personal information to run our business and respond to you. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Answer inquiries, arrange demonstrations and provide quotes
  • Send news and updates, only if you asked to receive them
  • Understand which pages and topics interest visitors, and improve the site
  • Learn which companies visit, so our sales team can follow up with businesses likely to benefit from our systems
  • Protect the site and our forms from spam, fraud and security threats
  • Keep business records and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations

We do not sell lists of contacts, and we do not use your information to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

How we disclose information

We share personal information only with the parties below.

  • Service providers that run tools for us under contract: Google (analytics and spam protection), HubSpot (customer relationship management and email), our website host, and our email delivery provider. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
  • ZoomInfo, our business data partner. When ZoomInfo’s script runs, ZoomInfo receives your IP address and browsing activity on our site and may use it to maintain its own business database. Under some US state laws, this may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out at any time (see Your privacy choices).
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, when needed for their work.
  • Authorities, when required by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
  • A buyer or successor, if Steric is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. That party would be bound by this policy.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Your privacy choices

You can opt out of Statistics and Marketing cookies, and of any sale or sharing of your personal information, at any time.

  • Your Privacy Choices link. Click it in the site footer, or click Opt out on the cookie banner. Opting out of Marketing stops ZoomInfo and HubSpot tracking. Opting out of Statistics stops Google Analytics. Your choice is saved in your browser, so repeat it on each browser and device you use.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out of Statistics and Marketing for that browser.
  • Do Not Track. We do not respond to the older “Do Not Track” browser signal, because there is no common standard for it. We honor GPC instead.
  • Visitors from Quebec. If your browser’s settings indicate you may be in Quebec, Statistics and Marketing stay off until you choose to turn them on.
  • Google Analytics opt-out. You can also install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • By email. Write to [email hidden – enable JavaScript] with “Privacy opt-out” in the subject line.

Marketing emails

We send news and updates only to people who ask for them, by ticking the unticked “Stay in the loop” box on our forms. We keep a record of when and how you subscribed.

Every marketing email identifies Steric, gives our mailing address and includes an unsubscribe link. We process unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. You can also email [email hidden – enable JavaScript] to unsubscribe.

Unsubscribing does not stop messages about an inquiry, quote or order you have with us.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy.

As long as the law requires

We protect personal information with access controls, encrypted (HTTPS) connections and reputable service providers. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. Email [email hidden – enable JavaScript]. We will confirm your identity using the details we already hold, and respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

California

  • Opting out. We honor opt-out requests and Global Privacy Control signals as described in Your privacy choices.
  • Shine the Light (Civil Code 1798.83). You may ask, once a year, which personal information we disclosed to third parties for their own direct marketing in the prior calendar year. Email us with “California Shine the Light request” in the subject line.
  • Tracking disclosures. This policy lists the categories of information we collect, the third parties we share it with, and how we respond to browser privacy signals, as the California Online Privacy Protection Act requires.

Canada and Quebec

You may access and correct your personal information, and withdraw your consent to its use, subject to legal and contractual limits. Our person in charge of the protection of personal information is Kevin Jordan, CTO, reachable at [email hidden – enable JavaScript]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.

Mexico

You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition (ARCO rights) by emailing [email hidden – enable JavaScript] with your name, the right you are exercising, and a copy of an identification document. We will respond within the time limits set by Mexico’s Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties. [A Spanish-language version of this notice will be provided.]

European Union, United Kingdom and elsewhere

We do not currently market to the EU or UK. If you contact us from there, we will handle your information as this policy describes and respond to rights requests under the laws that apply to you.

Children

Our site and products are for businesses, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Where information is processed

Steric is based in California, and our service providers store information mainly in the United States. If you visit from Canada, Mexico or elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We review this policy at least once a year and update the date at the top when it changes. If we make a material change, such as using your information in a new way, we will post a notice on the site and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
