As a distillery located in Fort Worth, Texas, we love the climate swings for aging our whiskeys, but the extreme, hot Texas sun can sometimes cause profound wood absorption that can “over-oak” or absorb more of those caramel, vanilla, and spices we’re trying so desperately to extract during the aging process. We’re always pushing the limits with innovation and technology and the Steric Process has specifically helped us to refine, soften and balance those bold flavors created from our North Texas heat. Our purpose is always to produce high-quality whiskeys that “elevate spirits and standards” and the Steric Process helps us deliver what we consider to be the best whiskey made in Texas.

By partnering with Steric, I was able to dramatically reduce my cost of goods without sacrificing quality. What used to require sourcing a more expensive product, I could achieve with a much more affordable option while maintaining the same flavor profile my customers expect. The cost savings have been substantial.

Steric absolutely ameliorated the flavor profile of a wood-forward bourbon, perhaps carving out a unique solution to the bourbon world—getting rid of the over-oaked note... Their tech… has opened my palate to the idea that there is a place for new systems in whiskey.

We are striving to bottle the finest Kentucky bourbon in the world. We start by purchasing the best 8 to 12 year-old bourbon barrels that money can buy. We then blend the barrels and go a step further by finishing the blended bourbon in port, cognac, sherry, and Cabernet Sauvignon barrels for up to a year. This creates maximum complexity to already delicious bourbon. Just before bottling we do a little bit of extra polishing using the Steric Process to give the bourbon a magic soft mouth! This makes our awesome stuff even better.

Over the past few years Black Button Distilling has been experiencing significant growth. Part of what helped us to do this was the Steric process allowed my team to create multiple brand extensions from the same source liquid, enhancing both variety and quality. Now that the market is contracting, I was able to streamline inventory and reduce costs without sacrificing the high standards my clientele expects. Numerous clients I serve have come to count on this revolutionary technology to ensure that we can offer distinct, premium quality spirits that meet my customer’s diverse needs.
