Improve flavor. Recover value. Boost margins.
Steric gives spirits and beverage producers a new processing tool to refine flavor, address difficult sensory issues, and improve the economics of existing production — without additives, reformulation, or changes to established production practices.
Better RTD Economics Start with the Spirit
The spirit going into an RTD can have an outsized impact on both flavor and margin. Steric gives producers greater flexibility in that equation.
Steric processing can elevate the flavor, integration and mouthfeel of lower-cost spirits, creating opportunities to reduce base-spirit costs while still achieving the sensory profile expected from a premium finished drink.
Since 2024, Steric has worked with some of the industry’s leading spirits producers across bourbon, whiskey, rum, vodka, tequila and other categories, refining flavor and addressing difficult production challenges at commercial scale. That experience is now being applied directly to RTD production.
The same technology can also be applied to alcohol bases, concentrates, emulsions and other components, giving RTD producers and their suppliers multiple opportunities to improve flavor and economics before the finished beverage reaches the can.
Producers can evaluate different spirit inputs, process them with Steric, and determine whether a more economical base can deliver the desired finished product. At RTD volumes, even modest reductions in base-spirit cost can translate into meaningful improvements in unit economics and margin — without adding ingredients, changing proof, or substantially reformulating the beverage.
Lower the cost of the spirit. Elevate the finished drink. Expand the margin.
Steric + Geosmin: Turning Affected Spirit Into Usable Inventory
Steric gives distillers a new way to address geosmin-affected spirit by changing how geosmin is expressed within the spirit matrix and moving compromised inventory toward blendable or next-stage-ready product.
Using precisely controlled electromagnetic fields, the Steric Process influences molecular interactions among water, ethanol and flavor-active compounds. In geosmin-affected spirits, these changes can alter the sensory expression of the defect — reducing its dominance while maintaining more of the desirable aroma, flavor and character of the underlying spirit.
Processing takes seconds and can be evaluated immediately. Distillers can determine whether the treated spirit is ready for blending or should move to adsorption, filtration or another refining step, allowing Steric to be calibrated with existing production techniques rather than replacing them.
In one commercial application, six affected barrels were processed in less than a day and made suitable for bottling as a single barrel product — converting inventory facing an estimated $12,000 loss into approximately $60,000 of usable value.
Steric can process individual batches or operate at production rates of up to 1,500 gallons per hour.
What happens to geosmin inside the Steric field — and what happens next — is worth exploring.
Adding Margin to Rum & Tequila Batches
Steric gives rum and tequila producers another processing variable for managing flavor, consistency and batch economics — at multiple stages of production.
Using precisely controlled electromagnetic fields, Steric influences molecular interactions among water, ethanol and flavor-active compounds, improving integration, balance and mouthfeel without additives or changes to proof. Processing can be applied to distillate, aged spirit, sourced product, blends, or finished spirit prior to bottling, with results evaluated immediately after each pass.
This flexibility allows producers to use Steric where it creates the most value: refining an individual component before blending, bringing variable lots closer to a target profile, improving lower-cost sourced spirit, addressing an off-profile batch, or making final sensory adjustments before packaging.
In one commercial rum application, Steric processed 2,800 gallons in approximately two hours, reducing excessive oak extraction and astringency and restoring the intended flavor profile. More than $140,000 of product investment was preserved rather than allowing the batch to be downgraded or discarded.
Because treatment takes seconds, producers can taste and perform quality control throughout processing, calibrating treatment to the desired sensory endpoint rather than committing the entire batch to a fixed intervention.
Treat earlier. Blend smarter. Refine before bottling. Capture more value from every batch.
STERIC RECOVERY VALUE ESTIMATOR
What could one improved batch be worth?
Use a few basic numbers to estimate the potential value Steric may help recover from an unexpected, sub-par, or off-spec beverage batch.
This is a directional estimate only. The right next step is a short discussion about which pilot samples would be most useful to evaluate.
